Amphibious

Amphibious

Mohammed Khan joins the Royal Marines to prove just how British he is, but soon discovers the real battle is learning to be authentically himself.

Things only get trickier when his dead grandparents start showing up with their own opinions on his mission for belonging

Amphibious is a play about growing up in the space between different cultures, code switching, and finding out the different forms patriotism can take.

It started life when the writer wondered how a conversation with his grandparents would be like if they could talk about some of his big life decisions. With support and a seed commission from MAST Mayflower, it then turned into a full play with glowing reviews from the first staging in Southampton.
