REVOLUTION IN A CATSUIT
A Staged Play reading
By Somi De Souza
A fast-paced satirical play about an actress over-the-moon about landing the best role of her life until the her celebrity director tells her she’ll be playing the most famous of India’s warrior queens in S&M porn gear!
Refusing to play ball, she walks away only to find that her new best friend is about to take her place!
Meee-owww!
The gloves are off … till the catsuits come on.
This #MeToo play was rejected by all fringe theatres in London and travelled 5000 miles to Hollywood in April 2017 to be heard.
Five months later, in October 2017… #MeToo shook the world.
Content warning: Strong language. Themes of sexual harassment and racism.
Finally, this much-dismissed play is being celebrated in London with world class actors from TV and cinematic blockbusters (Jack Klaff known for the original Star Wars movie, For Your Eyes Only and currently in The English). This time it’s Hollywood doing the travelling - the actress from the Los Angeles production (Victoria G Platt known for NCIS, NCIS: New Orleans as well as Days Of Our Lives and Guiding Light.) is joining us in London for an intimate setting at Drayton Arms Theatre (The best little theatre in London). This behind-the-scenes look at a couple of feisty actresses trying to make it in the entertainment industry takes us through their friendship, failures and feuds. This is a female-led play that lets men get lots of words in invites women to wear catsuits. And men too! No discrimination here.
Vive La Catsuit!
Theatre Company Reviews:
"One of the things that makes it work is the characters. The characters are solid and relatable. I can believe in anything if I can believe in the characters. One of Somi’s talents is to her ability to tell a big story through a small setting." - Charles Shaar Murray (Legendary Rock critic, original staff writer NME)
"The truth of the play is what jazzed me up!" - Alex Morris ( Ken from BASKETS, Wallace from ABBOTT ELEMENTARY)
