Evolution: The Perfect Man

Evolution: The Perfect Man

Evolution: The Perfect Man is a ridiculously serious sci-fi comedy about a young man who travels through time to understand what a man is and what a man could be.

Carlos is a young Latino man in tech. He desperately wants to fit in with his coworkers, even if the things they say behind closed doors can be... questionable. And the tech they are developing is even worse.

Destiny is a Latina time traveler from the future. She has come to awaken Carlos and save humanity.

In the future Carlos will develop an evil super computer. Destiny has come to stop this from happening. She takes Carlos time traveling through history to learn about human evolution, question the role of masculinity, and encourage him to be a better person.

Latina theatremakers Jade Alvara and Lara Vivone have created a camp show full of jokes, drag and multi-roling that explores themes of decolonial masculinity, feminism, and Neo-Luddism (anti-AI).

Starring Lara Vivone in drag as Carlos and Jade Alvara as the sci-fi Matrix inspired baddie Destiny.

Theatre Company Reviews:

Review of Jade Alvara’s debut play Folklorica:

‘Folklorica is a brave and vital production. It celebrates Latina resilience, critiques systems of exploitation, and reclaims the fairytale as a space for rebellion and renewal. With its blend of grit, humour, and magic, the play stands as both a protest and a promise that Latin American voices will continue to be heard, and their stories, however fantastical, will speak truth to power.’

Review of Lara Vivone’s performance in Alerta by Marianne Eilers Gonzalez:

“Lara Vivone and Ema Carvalho deliver standout performances, bringing depth and electric juxtaposition between their two characters. Their portrayal of the women at the forefront of the protest is both compelling and moving, making it easy for the audience to connect with their struggles and triumphs.” - Rachel Verhoef, Actor and Co-Director of the Wandering Artist
